Acta Biotheoretica is devoted to the promotion of theoretical biology paying special attention to the methodology of formation of biological theory. Papers on all kinds of biological theories are welcome. Interesting subjects include philosophy of biology biomathematics computational biology genetics ecology and morphology. The process of theory formation can be presented in verbal and mathematical form. Moreover purely methodological papers can be devoted to the historical origins of the philosophy underlying biological theories and concepts. Papers should contain clear statements of biological assumptions and where applicable a justification of their translation into mathematical form and a detailed discussion of the mathematical treatment. The connection to empirical data should be clarified. Acta Biotheoretica also welcomes critical book reviews and short notes directing attention to interesting new theoretical ideas.

When the Psychoanalytic Theory Program at UFRJ developed the project to launch a Journal connected to it, its objective was to respond to a demand from its scientific community, which had only limited sources to its specific subjects, in terms of publications as well as reading material. The Ágora - studies in psychoanalytic theory Journal started to take a unique place in the divulging of knowledge, taking its place beyond the institutional confrontations and staying away from any personal specificities from the majoring area of psychoanalytic societies. Its proposal was pioneer in the area, building itself as a discussion forum for research about the themes and most relevant problems at the contemporary Psychoanalysis, thus trying to place the reader in contact with the latest productions in this area. Besides that, it made possible the effective psychoanalytic intervention in many fields, opening doors to other Psychology sub areas and other alike areas such as Sociology, Anthropology, Epistemology, Ethics and Linguistic. It offered an open space to a pluralist debate, respecting the diversities in tendencies that integrate the different fields of knowledge that the Journal covers. Ágora - studies in psychoanalytic theory is considered, in the academic circle as well as in the national and international psychoanalytic community, an Excellency in Journal. This can be observed by looking at the growing number of international researchers that look into publishing their articles and/or conferences in our Journal's issues. The demand has been growing each year, and we try to keep it up with it taking in consideration the necessity of evaluation criteria.

AI & Society is a refereed international journal publishing scholarly articles discussion papers short communications and reviews of books and other publications. Established in 1987 the journal focuses on the issues associated with the policy design and management of information communications and media technologies and their broader social economic cultural and philosophical implications. AI & Society is broad based an strongly interdisciplinary and welcomes contributions and participation from researchers and practitioners in a variety of fields including information technologies social sciences arts and humanities. ''Technological innovations offer a great potential for a new social and economic renaissance but also possess the risk of exclusion of people and their aspirations from shaping the post-industrial society. New technologies provide opportunities for the creation of new forms of employment human services and living conditions but at the same time there are dangers of decontextualising identity and thought and of closing down human capacities for social innovation and sustainability'' (New Visions of the Post-Industrial Society Int. Conf. July 1994). As the 21st Century dawns a gap is emerging between the reality of the rapidly evolving 'information society' and the humanistic vision of developing socially useful technologies which deal with wider societal issues. AI & Society provides an international forum for analysis of these conflicts and dilemmas and a focus for a growing community committed to the 'knowledge society' and to 'human-centered' technologies and systems. Rather than concentrate on technical aspects of information and communication systems AI & Society emphasizes the need to understand the potential and consequences of using these powerful tools. Anyone who cares about the policy design and management of information communication and media technologies human-centered systems and related sociotechnical developments should subscribe to AI & Society .

The American Philosophical Quarterly welcomes articles in English by philosophers of any country on any aspect of philosophy apart from history. However, only self-sufficient articles will be published, and not news items, book reviews, critical notices, or "discussion notes" (short or long). Approximately 30 papers are published per year and manuscripts are blind refereed. Unsigned comments are given to authors if the editor thinks the comments would be useful to the authors. A small fraction of papers submitted are accepted and most of those accepted require significant revision. Eight to ten weeks is the average evaluation time. The journal has a special feature under the rubric "Recent Work in ..." for which contributions are usually solicited but which may be sent to the journal without invitation. The journal appears quarterly and has approximately 1800 subscribers.

Analysis was founded in 1933 to provide a forum for short discussions of topics in philosophy. It quickly established itself as one of the characteristic journals of philosophy within the analytic tradition with a distinctive style that has been maintained to the present day. Articles lend themselves to the presentation of cogent but brief arguments for substantive conclusions and often give rise to discussions which continue over several interchanges. A wide range of topics are covered including: philosophical logic and metaphysics philosophy of language epistemology philosophy of mind and moral philosophy. The focus will be on Austrian culture from 1750 to the present. Literature will be considered in relation to psychology, philosophy, political theory, music, theatre, film and the visual arts. 'Austrian' includes the German-language culture of former areas of the Habsburg Empire, such as Prague and the Bukovina, as well as the work of people of Austrian origin living abroad. Austrian interactions with other linguistic and ethnic groups -- the Jewish communities of Austria-Hungary, for example -- will also be taken into account.
